Our History

Black Researchers United was founded in 2020 by Omri Coke, a history and science buff with a passion for research.

For several years, Omri has dedicated himself to excavating the forsaken stories of African people around the world. He has undertaken to present these stories to the world in a new light, calling for a re-examination of social perceptions on African people long held both by the wider culture and by African people themselves, who have internalized these misunderstandings.

Seeking to establish a space for Black people to learn and to grow together, Omri helped to launch a project which he dubbed Black Research Central in 2016. Through a consistent effort of sharing his own research articles and connecting with people all over social media, this project reached an active following of around 15,000 in the space of four years.

Some who recall the popularity of that former project may be wondering: what happened to Black Research Central?

Just as the movement for Black research was gathering its momentum, that movement was suddenly silenced. Omri was diligent in his work, hoping to bring the mission of this project into reality. However, with the growth of this project, he came to realize that his “team” did not share the same drive, purpose or integrity. Left with no other recourse, Omri was forced to abandon this “team,” which had lost his confidence. With it, the very platform, which was to be the salvation of many, was lost as well – or so it seemed.

While the former project had been brought to a reluctant end, Omri has not given up on his dream of a haven for Black researchers – a place where we can all gather and work together. Black Researchers United is a continuation of that dream and that dream lives on.

How will we prepare to redefine our historic identity?

How will we prepare for problems that continue to plague us in the present?

How will we prepare the next generation for the challenges ahead?

Join us as we seek to build a new paradigm in research.

Black Researchers, Unite!

Our Vision

We want to provide a safe place for Black Afrophiles and Afrocentrists to work together in shaping the narrative of our history, using their knowledge of science to meet the needs of our communities, and tapping into their own potential to improve the world at large.

Our Mission

We strive to unite Black social media users in the effort of engaging in activities and discussions regarding the process and the applications of research in the fields of history and science. This effort will ultimately lead to collective support for the establishment and maintenance of a social platform to accommodate Black research enthusiasm.
